Bad Karma

i have been trading music for a long, long time and have a few friends who tape all kinds of different bands all over the country. when social d announced they were touring to support the new album, i reached out to a few people with an offer to 'sponsor' some recordings.

my main goal is to share the music and to be able to offer up some of these recordings to the fans so people don't have to pay crazy ebay prices. i apologize as the good karma offers have not been happening as often as i would like, but i assure you there will be more. i will NOT be offering a recording of the show from last night.........


well, i just talked with a good friend that i had 'sponsored' to try to tape the show last night at the sunshine theater. this guy has taped easily over 50 shows and does an incredible job in the post production. never been caught and is a total pro.

since he is a poor grad student who doesn't have a lot of extra dough, i sent him a nice pdf eticket from those ticketbastards. we patiently waited for the day to arrive....


so i guess the social d crowd is kinda rough (which is totally stupid), so the security is extra tight and he totally gets the crotch check for some sort of firearm and totally gets busted by the security guy. so he feels really bad since i paid to send him to the show and not wanting to let me down, asks some of the hard questions about the taping policy of the venue, band, etc. since nothing is posted.

well things get worse from there and he gets booted from the show and can't even return without the recording gear. so all i say is damn you sunshine theater.

i still have a few more cards up my sleeve, but let's all keep our fingers crossed for some better luck next time. also, i would hate to think this good karma i have garnered here has been for nothing....

p.s. does anyone have the cleveland 2002 show? i thought i had seen somewhere that it was circulating, but cannot recall where i found that information.

I'd be interested in helpign sponsering some attempts also, love to hear some of these 2004 shows that I can't attend. I'm going to the Atlanta show on Oct 11th. I thought about trying to tape it, but I dont think I will now. I've nver done it before, so my chances of a good recording probably be slim, and from what I was told to get a good recording, you kinda gotta limit your head movement,etc (if thats where you clip your mic). But the MAIN REASON, I dont think I will, is because I DON'T WANT TO GET BOOTED FROM THE SHOW. I've only saw SD once in 1992 (and got booted from that show) for being too drunk. So not taking any chances on getting throwed out. Might be only time they come near my neck of the woods again. Love to hear others recordings tho, or help in what way I can.

i feel your pain bro but being thrown out is a lot less traumatic for somebody who has seen social distortion roughly 55 times vs somebody who has only had 2 opportunities in the last 10 years. So with that in mind, maybe you should move to southern california, and if you get caught, there's always tomorrow, then the next night, then the next night.....

Heck Brian, let me know what I can do, going to Indy, homebase Chicago and the Milwaukee shows, snuck a 35 mm with zoom into a show and got busted, they just told me to be cool with it and the security ended up letting me in the barrier for pix....guess it helps being a girl [img]smile.gif[/img]
